Training, Consultancy, and Coaching aren't three businesses. They're three doors into the same underlying problem
ISSUE 01: This Week: The PROVCRAFT Launch
I've spent 25+ years in IT Delivery and Agile transformations, and for most of that time I did three different jobs: sometimes I trained a room through a SAFe or Kanban certification, sometimes I got brought in to fix something an internal team couldn't see clearly enough to fix themselves, and sometimes it was neither of those, just one manager who needed to change how they operated and had nobody to practice the hard conversation with first.
They aren't three separate lines of work, but rather the same problem wearing three different masks. One can be a skill gap; the second can be an org-level mess, or the third could be a person who needs to change one habit. What determines which mask you're looking at mostly depends on which door you took.
provcraft.com is live now with three genuine services, on purpose.
There's training: SAFe, Kanban University, Scrum, and ICAgile certification programs, plus corporate programs built around whatever gap a specific team actually has instead of a generic syllabus.
Then there's the advisory side: team- and org-level work on delivery bottlenecks and cross-team dependency chaos that an internal team is usually too close to see.
And when it comes down to one person, that's coaching: one-on-one or small-group work for a manager or PM who needs to change how they operate day-to-day, not sit through another workshop.
Same instructor, same standard, across all three. I hold a PMP, I'm an Advanced SAFe Practice Consultant, an ICAgile Authorized Instructor, and an accredited Kanban trainer, and Toptal put me in their top 3% of independent talent, for roughly the same reason clients keep coming back.
I tell people what's actually happening, not what's easiest to hear.
ProvCraft's SAFe, Kanban, and ICAgile programs are also live on EasyLearningTre, a training platform I don't cross-list with lightly. I checked how they actually treat people making a career decision before agreeing to it. Sessions booked through them are delivered by me personally, same curriculum, same standard as booking direct.
This newsletter is where I'll be writing about the actual work. The specific tells that
- A sprint board with a camel-humped burndown chart.
- Standups that turn into 1.5-hour status movies and what fixes that,
- The difference between a story that's legitimately complex and one that's just stalled,
- The conversations that separate a delivery lead from a delivery lead
- Framework or no framework.
If you're weighing whether a SAFe, Kanban, or ICAgile credential is your actual next move, or you're running delivery and the board looks fine but the team doesn't, that's exactly what I'll be writing about here every week.
