Kanban Systems Improvement (KMP-II)

Kanban Management Professional training covering Kanban Systems Improvement (KMP-II) — evolving an existing Kanban system using flow metrics and structured experimentation.

Who This Is For

Practitioners who've completed Kanban System Design and want to scale, manage, or optimize service delivery across multiple interconnected teams.

What You'll Cover

01

Evolutionary Change Principles

Why gradual, evolutionary change works better than disruptive change in a Kanban system.

02

Scaling in Multiple Directions

Scaling upstream, downstream, and to connected systems, not just adding more boards.

03

Running Kanban's Scaling Cadences

Using Kanban's cadences to manage and scale across the organization.

04

Managing Delay and Variability

Identifying sources of delay, variability, and bottlenecks, and using metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Course Details

Kanban Systems Improvement picks up where Kanban System Design leaves off — evolving an existing system to work across multiple connected teams, not just one.

This is a completion-based course — there's no certification exam. Combined with Kanban System Design, it counts toward the full Kanban Management Professional (KMP) designation.

What You'll Learn

  • Apply evolutionary change principles to an existing Kanban system.
  • Scale a Kanban system upstream, downstream, and across connected teams.
  • Run Kanban's cadences at a multi-team scale.
  • Identify and reduce sources of delay and variability using flow metrics.

Prerequisites

Completion of Kanban System Design is strongly recommended, though not a strict prerequisite. Reading Kanban by David J. Anderson or Kanban from the Inside by Mike Burrows beforehand is also recommended.
